I got curious and visited the TT sports shop and I found also a soccer, beach ball and curling game. I have personally only tried the tennis and the curling system. The curling game was very intuitive and fun to play. It was really easy to start a game and compete with my friends. 

Did you know that there is American Football in Second Life?

When looking at the games section of the official Second Life forums, I saw a post called "Did you know that there is American Football in Second Life?" Actually yes, I did know that and I wanted to write about American Football in Second Life for quite some time. The forum post is by Mal Galaxy, the owner of the Ohana Packers. The team exists since 2010 and has been playing in the SFL (Second Life Football League), the VIFL(Virtual Ironman Football League) - and will now be starting in the CFL (Coalition Football League).

The CFL is the newest - and so they say - most exciting 9x9 Football simulation in Second Life. The first ever season is about to start and you can still be a part of it. The Ohana Packers are currently recruiting new players and both men and women are welcome to join. And the Packers are also recruiting Cheerleaders. LFV football - A community driven football simulation in Second Life

In December last year I have presented to you VE-Soccer, a football video game in Second Life. But there are many other exciting SL game mods for football/soccer, he most popular team sport in Europe, South-America and Africa. As you have seen in my video of VE-Soccer, the players need to remove all prim attachments and scripts in order to keep the sim performance sufficiently high. The result is that the graphics in general and the players in particular look very poor compared to modern sport simulation console games. 

However playing a team sports in Second Life gives you an experience that you can't find with typical game franchises: the necessity to learn coordination with 10 other human players. Unlike in the console games, you really need to learn tactics and develop a good team play with your mates or you will not stand a chance. One game simulation in SL that has taken this community spirit to perfection: LFV (Ligafutbolvirtual.com).

LFV (Ligafutbolvirtual.com) is also the most established football simulation in Second Life. It was formed in 2008 and after 5 years and a total of 1400 participating players in all these years, it continues to be a vivid and fun sports community with many highly active players. No wonder that LFV has been running their 22th tournament of simulated soccer in Second Life this year and there are certainly many more to come.

Play Lil's Minigolf in Second Life

I have already played golf in Second Life and I loved the simple and fun gameplay of the >(O.o)< Freestyle Golf system by Fa Nyak. Last week I discovered that there is also a Minigolf course in Second Life that uses the same game system by Fa Nyak. Lil's Minigolf course exists since 2008 but I had never heard about it before. Also a Google search didn't bring up much information about the place. It‘s astonishing that such a fun place can stay under the radar for such a long time.

Simball - an exciting fast paced team sports game in Second Life

Simball exists since 2010 and is a cool team sports game that only exists in the virtual world of Second Life. It has frenetic gravity-defying action, it combines the elements of several sports into one exciting game play. Simball works sort of like ice-hokey, but in a pinball machine and on hoverboards which have special powers and abilities. It is certainly a funny mix and reminds me a bit of Quidditch - the ball game in the Harry Potter movies.

The playfield is filled with the bumpers that should be avoided because they will steal your ball or your energy. There are two goals on each end. The larger one, when touched by the opposing hoverboard, provides one point. Over that is a smaller one, partially guarded by a bumper, which is much harder to get to, but if it is tagged rewards the effort with two points. Here is what other bloggers say about Simball:

VE-Soccer. A football video game in Second Life

VE-Soccer is is bringing football to the world of Second Life. Football (or soccer as my readers from the US will call it) is the most popular team sport in Europe, South-America and Africa. No wonder that soccer video games are among the best selling video-games franchises. Pro Evolution Soccer sold several million copies and the FIFA football series has reached 100 million copies worldwide in 2010. At the same time the FIFA franchise has been translated into 18 languages and is available in 51 countries worldwide.

In Second Life there have been some attempts to establish an SL soccer game but I never heard about them before. Maybe this is because they were promoted mainly among the Spanish speaking community. One older soccer league was called "Second Football" and another "ligafutbolvirtual" (LFV). Both game systems seem to have vanished from SL. But a new team of developers works on the game concept. When exploring the official SL forum for games a week ago, I noticed a short entry about a new soccer game called Virtual Evolution Soccer or in short VE-Soccer.
